Today's Inspiration: I picked up The Axeman's Jazz during a trip to New Orleans in 2016 and just finished re-reading today. I enjoyed it just as much this time. The way Ray Celestin peels back New Orleans's class and social layers is so enjoyable. You genuinely feel like you're there in the city, music ringing in your ears. It's a hell of a lot of fun and I can't recommend it enough.
Also, this is one enviably good cover! Not long after I brought my copy, I learned that friends in Singapore and Japan had brought the book for the same reasons. It delivers everything it promises.
This was the perfect book to read on a sunny lockdown day.
